    40k - how accepted are FW Marine chapters?

    Ok I haven't played a game of 40k in at least 10 years, probably a fair bit longer than that. Back then, at least in the group I played with, I don't remember this massive glut of codexes and alternate rules sources. Looking at some of them though, I like a couple of the FW chapters - especially the Raptors. Are the FW Marine chapters generally accepted? Including at tournaments and GTs?

    Also, while I like the Raptor fluff and rules, I'm not fond of the paint scheme I don't think. If I paint an alternate colour as a succesor chaptor or something could I still use the Raptor SC? Or get away with calling myself Raptors with an alternate paint scheme? Sorry for the barrage of questions... Just want to make sure I'm making the right choices as I plan out this project, thanks for any feedback!

    Oh, and traditionally, the Raptors are yellow/blue if you don't like the olive of the new scheme.

    I love the FW lists and armies, but you're right, even at local tournaments you might not be able to use the FW lists. Usually at larger GTs, using FW lists is restricted to special or narrative events.

    However, the best thing about Marines is that you can have them be whatever you want. I've got no problem with you making your own chapter and color scheme and using the Raptors rules, even SC. Some might accuse you of "goat-marining" but they can just STFU.

    There are a few local Badab armies out there, and I'd love to see another one, even if it isn't the new standard FW scheme.

    Most FW stuff is allowed, most of the time. Worst case, you might be stuck with the generic codex for one tournament.
