    Should we allow the Knights?

So should we allow them? They look to be Escalation light.

Stats for those who haven't looked

Pts - 375 for the Paladin, 370 for the Errant
    Super Heavy Walker
    BS 4 | WS 4 | Str 10 | Frt 13 Side 12 Rear 12 | Att - 3 | HP 6
    Weapons -
    Hvy Stubber - 36" 4/6 Hvy 3
Rapid Fire Battle Cannon - 72" 8/3 Hvy 2 Lrg Blast Ordance (Paladin)
Melta Inferno thingie - 36" 9/1 Melta Lrg Blast
Chains Saw of Doom - CCW D/2

Rules - Fear, Hammer of Wrath, Invincible Behemoth (Lord of War rule - shoot all guns, move 12", Stomp, Ignore all Vehicle damage except for Explosion, etc), Smash, Move through Cover, Relentless, Strikedown

Has a special shield where they get to decide in their shooting phase which side the shield is up on (Frt, Right, Left, Rear) and they get a 4++ save on that side only.

So basically this is Escalation light with only a D weapon in CC. I don't think this is bad as it doesn't give up more VP points if hurt, only has really 2 guns, and while the D can be bad a CC D might be good to curb some of the nonsense the community hates or hasn't seen yet (Seer Council, Beast Star, Screamer Star, Ab's Mom Twerking in a Onesie Star). Their are rumors of a Codex with this too so it would be neat to have these as they look boss to paint. And heck Brandon G might be able to get a fully painted 1850 army if he plays a few of these.

So yeah - should we let this in? Or at least try it? I don't like massed shooting Weapon D's and like I said the Spaghetti God only allows you to have one D, so having 4+ isn't fair.

If they have a full codex/army list (which we are about 99% sure of) I don't see how we justify banning them.

Models look awesome, fluffy, I'm guessing will be a load of fun. I'll now pause and wait for someone to burst in wailing about how they will ruin the game in 3...2...1...

They are kinda tame compared to stompas weapon load-out wise. The Melta blast is basically the same as the Cestus Assault Ram, only less mobile. The D weapon is CC - so that's not really that bad with the 3 attacks in CC. I can see these things getting bogged down in CC pretty easily. What are the rules for Stomp again?

6 HP is going to be Melta Sternguard bait.

I'd like to see one in action for sure before I make any judgement calls. But really I don't think 1 will be that bad. Now if someone wants to sink the $$$ to play 2-3 in an 1850 game, well...Have fun with that.
with 40k its best to get the rules straight then apply imagination and rationalize; you will only get annoyed doing it the other way round

Stomp allows you to make d3 attacks at initiative 1 where you place a small blast in base with the walker, then another 3 inches away, then another (based on number of attacks) to represent the feet going through the unit. There's a chart to see what happens on vehicle or unit based on what you roll per stomp

Yeah if it's a full-on codex it becomes a different proposition when you're talking about regulating it compared to data slates and whatnot.

I don't see how it could be a full-on codex with only two unit entries, but we'll see I guess.

    I like them.

I also agree that they seem inline rules wise with everything else.

Its basically 2 Ironclad dreadnaughts combined with 2 battlecannons toughness/points wise, and noone complains about ironclads or battlecannons.

These things seem to be built to counter things like wraithknights/riptides(give em the D) and parking lots full of str 7 guns, but strangely enough would have a hell of a time against a handful of marines with a few meltabombs.

I vote yes for the Meta breakers that they look like.

(and these things are a Melta Sternguard's wet dream)

I'm pro knight, especially if they get a stand-alone codex. This - dare I say it - escalation of d-weapons in a standard codex might also pave the way for revisiting allowing SHA and Escalation in games in the future.

Also, I'm already running some ideas on a knight house, though truth be told I'm debating converting them into questors and subjugators.

Awesome - yeah I want them to be in. I want to paint one so bad. I hope they have evil versions. Or I will just make a House Subverted to Slaanesh.

I think you just add spikes. I'm trying to get nick to buy one, so that I can learn on it before I buy and build my own. :P
