In our effort to support the Games Workshop community here in Central Texas, we are making changes to the way we give out prizes for our tournaments. We are shifting our focus from giving product out as prizes to giving out medal, plaques and trophies as recognition for placing in tournaments. Many players have expressed the desire for bragging rights over giving out product each month. Hopefully this will promote fun game play and give everyone a welcome change to the current tournament prize structure.
Any specialty tournaments such as team tournaments, charity events, etc. Will not replace normal monthly tournaments and will be scheduled on additional days. Additional events will not award points for the quarterly totals.
Starting in March 2012, Dragon's Lair Comics & Fantasy will be running a rolling set of tournaments that is divided up into quarters as follows:

Each monthly tournament will award points for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers as follows:
The monthly tournament winners will each receive a medal that they can display on their transport or wear to other events. The medals will be engraved on the back with the month and placement. We will also have a perpetual plaque posted that will display the names of each of the monthly 1st place winners in both 40k and Fantasy that will be hung in the play area.
Dragon's Lair will keep track of the point totals for all players who place each month. The total points after the end of each quarter will determine Quarterly Champion. The quarterly champion will be awarded a trophy and have their picture hung in the store as recognition. There will be a quarterly champion for both 40k and Fantasy.
***Since this is starting in March, there will not be a quarterly champion for Quarter 1. This first set of monthly tournaments will serve as a way to get used to the format.***
At the end of year all points will tallied and there will be a Grand Champion awarded in both 40k and Fantasy. The Grand Champion will be recognized in the store with a photo and have their name placed on a large Stanley Cup like trophy that will be displayed prominently in the store until the next year's Grand Champion is named.
There is another prize that is in the works for the two Grand Champions that we can't disclose at this time. Once we have final approval on this, we will post more information.
All monthly, quarterly and yearly winners will be posted on our website and will remain their until the next season begins in January.
