Can Chaos challenge on geminus since they are not on the planet nor do they have a space port?

After reading this I have decided that the movie "Pineaple Express" should redo one of its quotes from:

"But if you do something heroic then you'll come back as like an eagle or a dragon, or Jude Law."

    To:

"But if you do something heroic then you'll come back as like an eagle or a dragon, or Nick Rose."

They have the Spaceport on Ranov, so they can attack spaceport-adjacent spaces on other planets.

    However:

However, in order to attack any special quadrant (i.e. space port, hive city, city, manufactorum, etc.), the players faction will be required to first hold at least one quadrant which is adjacent to the target first.
So, can't do a space attack except to an empty space adjacent the spaceport?

His challenge is valid, I will reword the rules when I am able, today and tomorrow I really can't. His move is legal though.

I think they can attack the space port itself then?

Yeah, looking at the rules, if they don't already have a presence on that planet, I think it would need to be against the space port first.

Actually, that conflicts with the shield gen rule. I don't know.

Since the imperials have the spaceport AND shield generator, the spaceport cannot be attacked, but any hex adjacent to the spaceport can be attacked from another spaceport.

So is that overriding the adjacency requirement in the challenges rules section?

because they can't draw a 'line' between those two without going through an uncontrolled space.

There is a conflict there. I would assume the spaceport would count as attacking from an adjacent space, but RedArmy will need to make that call.

I think maybe the way he was intending it to read was that you could attack a non-special hex adjacent to the space port, then in the next turn you could attack a special one next to the space port, assuming you had won the first one previously.

That still leaves a bit of a conflict, but makes the most sense to me, as it doesn't run into the problem with needing to hold an adjacent space to attack a special hex.

Yeah, comparing the first and revised version of the rules pack, I imagine that was the intent in making the alteration on spaceport to include adjacent hexes.

RedArmy may not be checking in too much, so would you still be wanting to make that challenge Kaika? for one of the non special adjacent spaces?

Do y'all agree that is the intent in the change? For reference:

Original:Furthermore, a faction in control of a spaceport, is considered to be adjacent to the spaceport of each planet and may always strike the space port of any other planet if so chosen.

Revised:Furthermore, a faction in control of a spaceport, is considered to be adjacent to the spaceport of each planet and as such may always strike the space port or any adjacent hex of any other planet if so chosen.

From both, under challenges: In order to target a given hex it must have a direct line that can be drawn from the attacking players' territory to the hex being challenged on the map. However, in order to attack any special quadrant (i.e. space port, hive city, city, manufactorum, etc.), the players faction will be required to first hold at least one quadrant which is adjacent to the target first.

The intent of the revision was to keep the planet from being entirely unassailable if a player holds both SP and SG.
