Hello folks! I'm just about moved into Leander/Cedar Park area within the next couple weeks! I'm a 40k, Battletech, and D&D player looking for the local gaming scene (It seems I have found it). Putting me close to Wonko's and DL!

I currently have to drive 25/30 minutes to get to my current gaming location, so a commute doesn't bother me for gaming purposes. I have been down to Dragon's lair in my past visit and was blown away to see players actually rocking something other than Magic the Gathering. Fantastic.

I play Tau, Blood Angels, Imperial Guard, and Necrons for Warhammer 40k, and have been featured on Miniwargaming.com if that's your dish- I can provide links if you so desire.

Look forward to meeting some of you soon!

    Welcome to Austin (area)!

Thursday is the big 40K night at DL, although there are pretty regular events on the weekend at stores in the area. And as you've probably seen, other games are popular as well.

What is the meta like in DL, is there a standard point build people adhere to? House rules? Any general stuff I ought to know of?

    Welcome to the Austin.

We mostly play 1850 and have recently adopted ITC FAQ. We were a hold out for sure. Most people play pretty competitive lists(even if they say they are fluffy). But, I think most of us are upper middle on the power scale for the most part. If 1850 isn't your thing most players will accommodate you by scaling up or down.

We have a tournament every month at DL the first Sunday of the month and one at Wonko's the Second Saturday. A group of us also carpools to other events in Texas.

I'll brush up on the ITC. 1850 is very doable, that's usually what they run up in MWG; Although I'd have to beef up some of my armies to be considered competitive in the least. I normally just play something silly. Like rough riders!

Hello everyone! Returning player to 40K (last played in 5th Ed., so might as well be new) and bringing my wife into the fold as well. =D

We live in the Cedar Park area, and will likely ve at some of the weekly game nights to meet and greet with other players. We're currently working on building up proper armies for casual and tournament play in the coming months. So if you see a couple really interested in 40K, without armies, that's us. Lol

She's working on a Slaanesh/Nurgle CD army, and I'll be rocking Tau. Any advice for competitive builds is always appreciated.

Great to meet everyone, and happy to know there's a strong wargaming community in the area. =D

Welcome Darquewing! We have open play tonight at Dragon's Lair and tonight is also paint night. A group of us sit around and paint in the side room near the office. we do this every other Thursday.

Sounds like fun! If we don't make it tonight, we definitely will the next time it rolls around!

    Heyo, I'm Josh.

40k mostly...entirely. I'm in the same boat, I haven't played since 5th edition, looking to get back in. You may have seen me creeping around the past few Thursdays watching people play. I'm looking to throw some time into it sometime soon here, I have a 2500 points list up and ready to go atm so I can hopefully relearn how to play.
