Necron Progress
Since I don't have a blog I figured I would update this thread with my hobby progress for the upcoming escalation league. Decided on Necrons with a bone/teal combo. Hopefully I will get to update this pretty regularly and actually get some games in once our field season dies down a bit.
Vargard Obyron - Planning to use this model as an overlord. Love the pose but a little annoyed at the slightly bent warscythe. :(

Destrotek - Realized later there is a pic of an eldritch lance on Illuminor Szera but I kind of like mine better as it it what I pictured an assault str8 weapon should look like (even though technically it is supposed to be a staff).

More to come! O and if anyone has a good idea for a destroyer lord's head I would love to hear about it. Was thinking maybe an immortal head but it might be too small.

Looks good!
Hard to tell from the pictures, but the models look a little dark--I'd try and brighten up the tan/bone areas a little more, and maybe add some winter static grass to the bases, just give the model some more contrast and such, but those are my only (minor) issues. Keep up the good work!

They look great! Love the subdued colors, actually.

Thanks for the nice comments. I have tried to get static grass to work numerous times and can never get it to look right. Next time I head up to DL if someone could maybe give me a few pointers that would be awesome.
Got a lot done last night and today since I had the day off so I finished off some details on my basic 500 point list and started to assemble and prime a few things for later. :)

If you can't get static grass to work you should definitely consider Army Painter Battlefield Tufts. They already look great, just glue them on and go.
I have that conversion on my blog, but I stole the idea from someone else, I've probably seen 15+ versions of that mod now...

Perfect Static Grass:
1. Glob Elmer's (Or preferred basic white) Glue on desired area.
2. Using an old paintbrush, spread glue into crevasses and final shape, making sure the glue is thick enough to be Opaque.
3. Scoop some static grass with inverted lid of the container.
4. Place mini in container, on top of the remaining static grass.
5. Slowly sprinkle static grass (Do Not toss a clump of grass on the glue. Do Not drag the mini through a compact pile of grass) from the lid onto the mini, aiming for the glue patches.
6. Take mini out and remove excess (non-glued) grass by inverting the mini over the static grass container and flicking the bottom of the base with your finger. This has the added bonus of 'standing up' the glued pieces of grass.
7. Lastly, clean up the edges by blowing softly (so you don't uproot the drying grass, or scatter the open container full of grass) around the circumference of the mini. Ideally you want to blow from beneath the model, so the edges stand up as well.
Hope it helps
