DL is a nightmare for loss prevention. The store is huge and very little employee focus if any is directed in the miniatures section. However, it would not surprise me if their loses were high across the board as the layout of the store provides tons of blind spots that are great for shoplifting shenanigans. Why make it easy for the thieves?

It really is. I was just thinking about the whole thing and if it is becoming a significant thing where they might feel the need to implement policies to secure their stock, it would be better for us to be proactive and have suggestions, instead of some restrictive blanket policy that changes the way we can use their space. Specifically thinking of things like instead of bringing in minis to assemble in their packaging, putting them in a generic box. But yeah, aside from rearranging that whole wall and tables, not seeing how the giant blind spot behind the tables can be mitigated.Quote:

Because cameras every where does not magically equal people enough to man them all. For each camera you need a person to watch at least some of them, and that person had to be able to get in touch with a staff member who is free right then or can be made free to go stop the theft. That is a fair amount of bodies for this task.Quote:

I think the answer is yes that's costly and would take more bodies than DL currently has on staff.
But you have to assume those who are stealing are doing it multiple times. The idea isn't to stop it as it is happening, but to identify someone doing it and not allowing them back. That review can happen at any time.Quote:

A camera is only a tool and unless that tool is used correctly it will have little impact; in this case a minor pre-theft deterrent.
For all we know, they could be fake cameras, just there as a deterrent.
