RAW its not a shooting attack, also no roll to hit. seems like he can gaze not only a different target but anything within 12" such as a dumb ole swoopin hive tyrant or someone in assault.

seriously tho, he moves 6" at a time, and only has a 4+ inv on his own. that cryptek formation buffs him good but its at least 380 points including the godshackle. more if you want invulns for the teks.

Well I for one am hoping for an FAQ. him getting a free taco out of it seems unfair.

But yeah I know it is counterable as it only has 18" threat bubble.(and I am playing dark eldar so I basically auto-kill this thing turn 1). But I really REALLY don't want to see shooting into combat become a thing in 40k. especially not one with ap2 ignores cover...

There also needs to be an FAQ for whether he can gaze of death a different target than his primary target. Also it is questionable if it can even target flyers etc. ("attacks" that auto-hit can't hit fliers, but its not classified as an "attack" or really anything). This ability not being defined as anything creates a whole mess of ambiguity.

It's not shooting into combat :) If it were shooting, well then, you couldn't do it into combat. :eek:

I was almost proud of GW for removing the ambiguous death ray so we could be done with shooting attacks that aren't actually shooting attacks. But nope we got a new one. It isn't even an "attack" so it ignores basically everything in the rulebook.
