That is so impressive. Very nice
* Jaw drops * Awesome.
You've got 2 months Brandon, think you can pull it off in time? :)
Fantastic work! The head in particular is really characterful.
The only thing I don't like is that there's a head, instead of the traditional, stoic flat panel, but that's only because I love Bjorn.
Thanks for the comments everyone :)
I think I can do it; I did my last dread in 4 weeks, so I'm hoping the extra time will give me what I need to do the traditional banner and other bits of free hand.
I've just always liked the mk iv style over the flat panels, so I was hoping to give him something unique to the wolves... also I'm clumsy and about a week after I bought the base model, I dropped the head part and lost it forever. :(
Great work! Cant wait to see it painted.
Nice! Can't wait to see it painted as the last dread looked amazing as well!
Holy crap. That is simply amazing.
So here's where I am so far, next, I'm moving up the legs. More later!

Looking good!
Cannot wait to see the whole thing.
Well, the update for the legs is a little lackluster, I admit; just one photo, but it's a pair of legs, what are you gonna do? With these done, (aside from a light coat of dullcote) I'm moving up to the admittedly more exciting part, the torso.
It's starting to come together, and while I find myself usually getting distracted easily, I seem to be keeping a good momentum going.

Thanks again for looking, and for all the comments. :)
Looks awesome, and I don't even know what it is!
More updates, although at this point I'm almost ready to take pics that are even further along, since I've since finshed the lower wolf pelts, and chest, and plan to finish part of the freehand for the torso plates tonight... I'm 11 days in, though, and beginning to wonder if I'm going to lose my title of "slowest painter ever"
@ Greggle: Maybe these will help you see? The unprimed piece is on page 1.

That's gorgeous. Very nice blending!
Airbrush, if I'm not mistaken?
Yeah, that's a pre shade laid down with the airbrush. kept my grey blendwork to a minimum on the torso plates, as most of it will be covered in freehand work anyway.
All about using the right tool for the job.
If I had to do a nice blend by hand on something that big, might as well enter me for the contest in 2013.
I think that's what cost me so much time with my first dread from last year; my airbrush had some bull**** $50 piece in it that broke, so I had to wetblend by hand, every single plate on him. by the time I got to the arms, I had 2 days until the competition deadline. By the time I got to the powerfist, I had 8 hours so I was like "uhhh.... you get to be a big bronze sheet, and you get have tons of weathering on you!"
Comparing Bjorn side by side with my other dread, I'm proud to say I'm not only going faster, but doing a more solid paintjob this time around.
Wow...fantastic!!! Teach me your ways!!!
@Beamo I realize its a big robot with a skull head, but I mean, I know nothing about GW stories/characters. I'd guess Space Wolves from the look of it though. It looks amazing though, I'm definitely inspired.
@ Ironbullet: I'd be happy to. What do you want to know more about?
@ Greggle: Oh okay, I didn't realize you weren't familiar with 40k. Yes he's a Space Wolf, and also the oldest living space marine in the Imperium, dating back 10000 years to the Great Crusade, before he was interred in a dreadnought sarcophagus. He's kind of a big deal among the wolves.
But he does get a choice of weapons.
...right?
What did you use for the base model here? Or was it just a dread with tons bits bashing? Amazing job however he started...
He started out as a forgeworld venerable mk iv dreadnought, but after everything I did to him, I could have used any mk iv dread. that's just what I had lying around to do it with.
I don't know why they didn't give him extra armor... that was just asinine.
Here's my theory:
He's super important, so anytime he goes down the whole force rushes to recover him. So the Techmarines were just being thrifty. I imagine it went something like this:
"Yeah, we could put some extra armor on him, but he's just going to get himself blown up and we'll have to put it on again. You think ceramite grows on trees?"
No kidding... Then again how much trouble do you think they went through to pile enough ceramite on him to give him 13 front armor? They couldn't go that little extra step to give some shock dampeners or something?
Maybe whenever he suffers a hit, he has a flashback.
Stunning, Brandon. Simply brilliant! Can't wait to see that thing in person.
Thanks!
I actually forgot to update this last night. I redid freehand on the right greave and thigh plates, and also started blocking in the basecoats for the banner freehand, as well as adjusting and rebuilding the plasma cannon arm socket. It's still magnetized, but runs parallel to where the skull is looking now.
Pics!

That looks really great. Fantastic job!
A fantastic job! I have the worst time trying to knock out Bjorn...That 5+ invuln always passes...Always
...not *always*. But its almost better when he does...
I really like the worn brass....looks great!
nice work, most impressive
