I have a tendency to be a little overcautious when it comes to highlighting. Best picture I could really muster.
EDIT: And thanks to the poor lighting the highlights are pretty much washed away by what little light there is. Le sigh.

Since it is a dark model, you should shoot it on a grey or darker background. That will help bring out some of the contrast.
Like these guys-- with a white background the purple was almost black.

I recommend a piece of poster paper from Hobby Lobby. Poster size gives plenty of space for models; tape it on a wall and have it curve down onto the table.

I think alot of it is my camera and lighting issues. I paint/take pictures in my garage and use 2 desk lamps. May have to upgrade shortly, but if needed I'll be looking into making a lightbox of some sort.

Are they work lamps or upright desk lamps? I got three of these and the brightest fluorescent bulbs I could find. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20370383/

Put a light from behind the camera. It will help. Also a Neutral Grey Background will give you better results. White backgrounds overexpose the photo.
