plastic Ragnar
Well, mostly plastic. Here's a mock up version:

I keep making it smaller, but the wolf head on the shoulder still seems a little big, although it is proportional to the old model. I compared a lot of items to the old model for scale; for example, the old metal sword is as tall as Ragnar to his topknot, and the wolf-shoulder head is about the same size as Ragnar's head, so I kept both of those relative proportions.

Much better than the GW metal one - which is awful.
Are you going for a strait-up plastic version of the metal model? I just think that if redoing Ragnar, why not revision him too?
Here's one I saw on the net - very dynamic pose, and probably one requiring too much work for what it might be, but unique - not the same tea-cup pose. I do like the model - looks good.

I like the linky one much better. Nothing personal Real, just that other one is much more action, very dynamic.
-
not that I posted that to show up anyone - but yeah, I like the dyanmic poses for characters especially. The Blood Angels characters really impressed me - Astorath and Seth are friggin awesome. Both are more like the characters in action rather than them prior to action, like with the tea-cup pose.
-
I definitely never would do an axe, since the long blade has been a Ragnar trademark. I want something that is easily going to fit into my bag and not be ridiculous. The link is nice, but it is a little too jaunty, too spread out. I like the pose in the current book art, compact, powerful, but still dynamic.
I just wanted something that wasn't terrible and too small, like the old metal one.

I think he works great as a young Ragnar. Planning on doing the furs etc. as well?
-
Yeah, I have a bit for the right shoulder fur, I just need to keep it out of the way of the big sword.
-
I reaLLY think he needs running legs. Like Assault Marine legs or any of the running legs out of the SW box.
Also the grip looks a little short for such a long sword, otherwise nice sword ;)
-
I tried a larger hilt-- one from the blood angels or some such, but it didn't look wolfy enough and made the sword ridiculously longer than it already is.
Alright, since everyone hates on the pose I'll try some other legs.

Sweet. I think you are doing a good job making him look like Ragnar.
