    Space Marine Legions sizes

I was reading some background about the World eaters, they had roughly 150,000 marines and they were divided into Companies. Are Companies still 100 marines in the Heresy Era? Or were larger/smaller?

Also, Any one have any rough idea's how large some of the other legions were?

From Lexicanum: "By the beginning of the Horus Heresy, the World Eaters had an active strength of roughly 150,000 Space Marines, placing them in the higher-mid level tier with regard to Legion size"

by companies in HH, they are typically referring to a "Grand Company" which is typically roughly the same size as today's Chapters. The exception to that is the Space Wolves, who used the same Great Companies they use today which are not restricted by the Codex Astartes but was still one of the smallest legions at less than 5000 marines, and the Thousand Sons, who hovered around 1000 marines, as you do.

I believe the Ultras were the largest, at 250k marines.

There was a chart someone on B&C did with all of them from different sources. I'll see if I can find it.

The 1000 sons had more than that when they were sacked by the Space Wolves. 1000 was how many they had left when Magnus was reunited with the Legion and stopped the mass mutation. They rebuilt from there IIRC.

Their name is believed to originate from the first step of the Legion's creation process; for unknown (but presumably notable, if the Legion was named because of them) reasons, exactly one thousand Marines were created and trained first, with the Fifteenth brought up to full Legion numbers afterwards.[7a] There only being one thousand Thousand Sons in existence at a point in time is a fact that, tragically, would repeat itself in the future on more than one occasion.

    per lexicanum.com

So I guess they had more, but the galaxy trolled them repeatedly and stole their lunch money.

Yeah i saw that page too jim, But I still think people are just pulling these numbers outta thin air most of time. Most of the numbers given don't have a source. At least the World Eaters get citations from the Betrayal book.
