House Rules vs ITC vs PLay It As Written (Mandatory Drama Thread)

Well, there were some complaints about ranged D, yesterday. So, let's open the 40K rules can of worms, again. How do we want to play here in Austin? We really have three choices: play straight out of the book, play ITC rules, or more limited house rules. We already consistently use 3 house rules: 1) No Titans, 2) limited to a single LOW and 3) allowing Ravenwing players to use HQs other than Sammi.

Do we want to limit ranged D like ITC has? If we are going to do that do we change anything else? Invisibility? The way templates hit buildings? If you would like to see local changes now is the time to voice an opinion.

Please give more information about why ranged D is bad

I am not being facetious, I am just not aware of the models enough to know which ones have more than one ranged d shot per turn

I guess really, what would be "banned" or "nerfed"

I am not the one that has a problem with ranged D, even though it affects Wolfstar quite a bit. So, I will let the ones that don't like Ranged D make that argument. Basically, they want to use the ITC nerfed D rules.

    Eldar have it in spades.
The new Tau also have it if the Stormsurge use marker lights to upgrade their missiles.

Here is the itc rule for ranged d

    Weapons
    Destroyer Weapons:
For ITC format events, we use the following profile for ranged Destroyer Weapons in place of that found in the book: D Weapons with the Distort Scythe special rule still subtract 1 from the table below.
Roll of a 1: No damage occurs.
Roll of a 2-5: Target model takes D3 wounds, or hull points with a penetrating hit.
Roll of a 6: Target model takes 3 automatic wounds with no saves allowed, or 3 hull points with a penetrating hit with no saves allowed.

Nothing sucks more than losing your big model to one damn shot with no saves of any kind. Rolling a 6 on stomp or ranged D just plain sucks. At least with ITC rules, it hurts but you dont just lose your model outright.

We may all not enjoy the entireity of ITC rules but to me the changes to D and invisibility should be used.

i am not sure that either of the things you describe are bad enough to warrant rule changes.

a lot of things can happen on one shot. it takes a 6 to have what you describe occur anyway, as opposed to something that happens a majority of the time.

i did not see the stomp ruling, just the ranged d. are we just talking about ranged d or stomps too?

if a knight runs into the wolfstar it does not get any saves. wraithknights can be humbled by graviton weapons.

I agree with Chris. I'm not in love with all of the ITC FAQ, but I think we should implement their changes to ranged D and invisibility.

this is rote by now but going on record to disagree and say keep D as D. i find very little difference between d shots and first and second turn grav centurion bombs with perfect timing. ban one or ban all
