Not sure I am digging the Sigmar figs. And yeah, moving to round bases, though apparently the rulebook specifically allows for 'legacy' bases per rumors.

Rumor says that round bases are going to give some skirmish/loose formation bonus while square bases in formation will grant some other bonuses
either way those are 32mm bases so if youre going for the square bases my speez mahrines and I will apreciate the round bases

Yeah, I think we can expect to see quite a few 40k armies converted from these. Will need to see better pics. Plus, so much gold - a different paint scheme may change my mind.

Yeah I think that's one of the reasons why I was disappointed. I don't like that gold and aqua blue color scheme.

That's was I was thinking... except not the last part!. I'm trying to figure out how that meeting went. Did somebody stand up and say, "Hey!, you know what this game needs?...Some ****in' Space Marines!" Seriously, its like their solution for the eroding player-base is to shore it up with 40K players, who they apparently think are stupider than the Fantasy players. Best of luck folks!

Just grabbing this quote as it is most recent. From what I have seen, it doesn't seem like they are necessarily going after any existing minis gamers. Reading through everything, it reminds me of the teenage crowd that hangs out at dl on fridays and saturdays. The kind that quote cah lines from memory and rpg like straight from the old snl skit. Doesn't seem like they are necessarily marketing it well, but it really appears that they are targeting a completely new demographic imo.

Which makes sense because it is literally a different game. Us fantasy players are just left with an unsupported GW product and are a bit insulted that it seems to be assumed that we will just play "whatever GW's not-40k game is". The 3rd Sunday tournament technically is now an AoS tournament (due to contracts with GW). Is Tuesday night at DL officially AoS now (due to contracts with GW)?

AoS is not Warhammer Fantasy. We are Warhammer Fantasy players, but GW just pulled the rug out from underneath us and said "Too bad, that's not a thing any more. We are changing the Genera of our not-40k game!"

This is pretty much exactly what happened with D&D when 4th edition was a miniatures/card game instead of a role playing game. Hopefully for GW, AoS will do better. But if it does catch on, then all of us that want to keep playing 8th or switch to KoW are going to have to figure something else out with DL because they are contractually obligated to replace Warhammer Fantasy with Age of Sigmar so the better that does, the less tables we have to use on AoS night.

So sure, no one crushed our models or burned our books. But GW is expecting its contracts with local game stores to take a time/place away from Fantasy Battles players and give it to their potential new Warmachine-Lite players. 8th needed fixing (some people are working on 8.5th Edition, other are working on The Ninth Age", some of us are switching to Kings of War) and Wargamming desperately needs a community (and it is seemingly splitting into at least 3 different directions) So soon, Erin, it may just be you and Albert playing 8th over and over again, while Jordan and Nate play 8.5 and Chris and I play Kings of War, and Zack and Carmack play The Ninth Age, and all the new people play AoS. And that'll just be a bummer.
