    Holy crap.....

So my school is getting a 3D printer for learning purposes. I had not realized these things were this cheap now(not for personal home use yet but for business).

    http://cubify.com

    $1300.

So I am learning all about it so I can teach people how to use it. In so doing, my mind began to wander and think of it's application in our sphere. I mean Holy Crap you can potentially make your own armies!!! Crazy! You couldn't sell them I'm sure but it's still crazy cool!

In the not so far future these things will become even more accessible and things like toy companies will no longer be like they are today. Fascinating.

GW will probably sue every 3D printer manufacturer on the planet, claiming exclusive rights to manufacture shoulder pads and such.

The point of the game is having fun. The objective is to win.

Just with Chapterhouse. They haven't tried suing people making their models with 3D printers yet.

They'd probably just sue the folks making the plans for the 3D printers, but who knows.

Yes. As long as you don't say it's for "Space Marines" I think you're golden. 3D printing your bits would be really great.

I was thinking along the lines of, what if you 3D scanned the sprues and just made the rest of what you needed yourself...what could they do at that point?

If you didn't sell it, there's not much they could do. You'd have to be out there, advertising yourself.
