    newb's lava bases

So this is the most commitment I've had to finishing a model ever, but I really want to produce something like a white basalt with lava flows.

I'm currently planning to follow up what you see here with some extra black wash like the flow in the middle then maybe score with a knife to produce some cracking in the flow and fill the exposed parts with yellow/orange. Any feedback or advice?

Badab Black aka talent in jar could fix that silver condition.

Lava is also hotter in the center of the flow, not near the edge, reverse your lava son!

Edit. It looks like it's only weird on the first two bases. If you're looking for the cooled lava with in the center of the flow look I'd look into breaking up the black formation on the base.

I take slight issue with that interpretation. You see the flow itself (the lava tunnel) begins to cool near the surface and so it's like one dark ribbon in the middle with hot lava pouring off the sides. But without motion it's pretty unclear.

I like that reference photo. My scoring experiment looks like garbage for now.

The silver is getting massive chaos and baddab added.

I tend to agree that they look a little off. But I think if you did a hard line of red or orange though the big black it would give it a more cracked and natural looking appearance.

I love the two on the right.

Small update to the ARGH! silver paladins.

Of special note is the Odo Malleus Inquisitor on the right. Another good use for the DA hooded heads.
