    Round 5: 40K Escalation League @ DL May 7 - May 20

Getting close to the end of the League. Please finish up past games so I we can declare awards. Please leave feedback on the mission if you find something that doesn't work-- something a little different this time.

    Round 5

    Sloth vs. ViscountAlexandru
    DandyPandy vs. TxPlays
    morella888 vs. Cavematt
    Sid vs. CRP
    Hogleg vs. RealGenius

Please post results here when done.

    Mission 5: Total War: Chaos

    Armies: 1500 points
Battlefield: 4x6 table, Dawn of War Deployment. Roll off to pick deployment zones.
Objectives: Modified Tactical Objectives: The chaos of war erupts and battle plans are quickly lost to enemy actions. Seize any opportunity to advance the cause of your faction, while fighting battles forced upon you.
Deployment: Standard Deployment method (pg 132)
First Turn: The player that set up first can choose to take the first or second turn. If they decide to take the first turn, their opponent can Seize.
Special Rules: Variable Game Length, Night Fighting, Reserves.
Victory Conditions: Victory Points per the Objectives above. Slay the Warlord, First Blood and Linebreaker count as 1 VP each.

Modified Tactical Objectives: Before models are deployment, but after deployment zones are determined, each player should generate 5 Tactical Objectives, visible to both players. Discard or re-roll objectives that are impossible, based on the composition of the two armies.

After each player has 5 viable Tactical Objectives, starting with the player that chose the first deployment zone, each player choses one of the 5 and declares which turn they will achieve that Objective. Then each player selects one objective from their own 5 and gives it to their opponent as an objective. Players then select which turn they will achieve the Objective they've been given by their opponent.

Players now should have 2 Tactical Objectives each, one they picked and one their opponent selected. Each player has declared which turn they will accomplish the two objectives-- it is recommended to write down or mark with a die the turn selected for the two objectives. The objective and turn selected are visible to both players.

Of the 6 remaining objectives selected by the two players, the player that chose the first deployment zone picks any of the 6 remaining Tactical Objectives as a final objective that either player can accomplish. The other player selects which turn that objective will be accomplished.

Modified Tactical Objectives can only be scored on the turn selected. Each Modified Tactical Objective achieved counts as 3 VP if accomplished on that turn.

The following League-wide rules are in effect:
All models have Preferred Enemy: Unpainted. Unpainted means fewer than three colors, primer counts as a color.
All models not completely assembled always move as if they are in difficult terrain.

Let me know if there are any questions on "Modified Tactical Objectives".

TxPlays, you want to play tonight? I don't have any painting left to do to play this round.

I'll be free that same week, Tuesday and Wednesday (if I remember my schedule right), but I still have a bunch of paint to get done. So honestly later works better for me.

That sounds fine. Just let me know whenever you want to get the game in.

So, what do we think, should this be the last round (1500 points)?

I think it's petering out with several folks dropping. It's too bad. I was enjoying having solid games arranged.

Yeah, the build/play schedule gets to be rough, then add on life/work concerns, and it seems to have reached the point where it is a burden for some rather than fun (no judgement there - life stuff happens).

So where are we at? Can we reshuffle any uncompleted round 3 or 4 pairings so anyone that wants to can get caught up to round 5?
Looks like round 3 CRP/Hogleg are missing, but if Hogleg and Sid are both out now, I could arrange a match up with CRP for that (I played Sid round 3, so could just pretend that didn't happen or whatever).

Would it be possible/desirable to just have a mini-'tournament' on an upcoming Saturday/Thursday for the last 4 or so people to get a few games in?

Who is still hanging in there currently?

Also, as a next step, I would really like to talk to interested people about a loose-form summer 'campaign' of sorts. There are lots of oddball scenarios I would like to play and if others have similar inclinations I think we can collectively come up with a framework that allows people to participate to whatever degree they can.
