I want to play in this but I would like to play what I want. Just ban the broken stuff and let the rest of us play what we want, no harm no foul. And like Cody says, the battleboxes are not balanced against each other.

After reading and doing a search on the PP forums, the battle boxes are still considered balanced toward each other.

So, if you get to play your pirates because that is what YOU want to play, why can't I play a Karchev the Terrible beat face list packed with heavy 'jacks and character jacks? Since, you know, that is what I want to play... (not really playing this, I am going in with menoth...just pointing out the fairness, or lack thereof, of letting one person play what they want to play and not letting others play what they want to play)

And by saying "just ban the broken stuff" is a bit too "Austining it the F Up!" We don't like it so ban it! Warmahordes doesn't really work that way. Nothing is Purple Sun broken in the game, everything eventually balances out the higher point value you go. Things can just get alittle unbalanced at under 15 points and that is why we have battleboxes.

My issue with banning anything "broken" is that it comes down to difference of opinion and play style. I, for one will not ban any model as the purpose of leagues is to play what you own. Ivarforkbeard A+ on your reply. As far as the caster problems, according to the Journeyman league rules you can't change/swap your caster till week four. SO the problem of Kharchev at 15 pts is moot.

As far as the battle boxes, they are balanced. Regardless of tricks each have the whole purpose of PP putting them out was to make sure that you can play games right out of the box.

I was making an example for if the PP rules as written were dumped and people just made what they wanted instead of using the battlebox only rule. Karchev, Behemoth and a marauder is a really....REALLY nasty list at exactly 15 points.

Dude why the F*** are you hell bent on not letting some of us play to have fun. I'm not out to play the most broken **** out there. It's ****ing pirates for crying out loud. And muffinman wants to play with something different too. The point is to get more people into the game, so stop being a stickler.

It has nothing to do with not letting people "have their fun". It is about rules being written for an official league that gets reported to Privateer, and those rule written a certain way for a certain reason. I do not like "banning" ****, and I don't like situational enforcement of rules. Plain and simple.

You say you don't want to run "broken" stuff. I have almost the same exact Skarre (both versions) pirate army as you do. Do you understand how nasty pSkarre's feat and abilities are at UNDER 15 points against people who will be playing battleboxes? Hint: her abilities and feats are GROSS under 15 points. With her feat, you can buff a jack's str and arm to +5...unheard of in battle box games.

The point is, the battle boxes are balanced against each other, even after the edition change. setting an arbitrary number under 15 points to start the league off with is incredible unbalanced and unfair.

Final point is taken off the front page of the Privateer Press website in the Dev's section:

The Journeyman League for WARMACHINE and HORDES is Privateer Press’ first official slow-grow league! This league is designed to encourage new players to begin learning the game with their chosen faction’s battle box and then expand their collection over the course of six weeks. The Journeyman League rewards both the player’s in-game victories and their skill with a brush. In fact, eager hobbyists can enter the league and score points just for assembling and painting their models!

Designed for the battle box. Plain and simple.

Also to remind you, these games get reported to PP. Why should one group of gamers get to bend and break rules while still getting to report their games and receiving the benefits (prize patches) while another group at another store or another city doesn't get to bend or break the rules to get the same bennies?

I think that the rules as written are fine. The point of this league is to get people used to playing with limited options and master the rules, and this is perfect for it.

Isn't pDenny's feat just as powerful? Her feat is effectively the same thing. pSorcha's? Every one of the battlebox feats are amazing so I fail to see your point there. The only thing I see your point on is that what is posted on the website is what we are supposed to play. However, I think the spirit of the league is to get people to play in it. We might lose people joining this league if we don't make some changes. I might not have the trade done in time to get the battlebox stuff. Other people are in similar situations. and what we report, who cares as long as it's approved by our PG and we are all happy about it.
