Does anyone have any experience with this game? I really like the theme and some of the models, but is the game worth a crap? And is there any kind of decent community for it in the area?

Dust Warfare or Dust Tactics?

After reading this I have decided that the movie "Pineaple Express" should redo one of its quotes from:
"But if you do something heroic then you'll come back as like an eagle or a dragon, or Jude Law."

Dust Warfare, I think - miniature wargame.
Well Some others might jump in like Billy but I thought Warfare was a great game and had awesome rules. There is some people, who have models and somewhat play but it has mostly been put on the backbunner.
There was legal issues with warfare that didn't get transferred over when Dust went to the new license holder. Which has caused warfare not able to get support or at least any type of major support.

I was one of the players Darkwynn referred to. Dust Warfare was an awesome game. Very good, simple, but tactical rules, decent models at a very good price point, and we had a decent community.
Then the changeover happened, everything has been in limbo since, and the local Warfare community died. Battlefront published tabletop rules for Dust Tactics, apparently in an attempt to replace Warfare and give players something to move over to. That said, I'm not a huge fan of the core Tactics rules.
I haven't seen anyone playing Tactics or Warfare recently, but that doesn't mean there aren't a few people around. You'll just need to look.
Yeah - basically what Steve said. The game's great, but it's basically going to go into stasis because the company that owns the model line cannot legally make money off the rules for Warfare. If you can find other people to play (or get back into the game) it's relatively cheap, a lot of fun, and plays fast while still having some depth to the tactics involved. Just go in knowing the game will have a finite amount of replay value since there's nothing new being added to it. In my opinion, that "finite amount" was more than enough to justify the investment, but it does eventually run out of steam.
Related: someone might be randomly listing all the miniatures in their Axis models in the near future.

use the models with a different ruleset, I like Tomorrow's War by Ambush Alley Games.
I tried using my dust models in Monopoly, but the Zombie ****s kept eating the shoe and thimble.
We play the Thimble as a Vehicle 4, and that makes it a little more balanced.
Has anyone tried the new non-Tactics rules?
