I heard a couple cool house rules on Independent Characters that might be fun for tournaments without changing the game too much especially in consideration of folks coming in from OOT:
* Rolling for warlord traits without choosing a category first, whatever you roll, you can choose one of the traits corresponding to that number from amongst the three lists (roll a 4, choose one from the #4's in the different categories)
* Painted models get preferred enemy against unpainted models (my personal favorite obviously, f your gray stuff)
anyway, thought it might be cool.
also they mentioned playing 40k with blinds during deployment... i have never played 40k like that, sounds crazy, Stratego is one of my favorite games
