What to do with silver primed necrons?

Just picked up a Necron army because *ahem*

Anyway, these guys were all primed shiny silver. If I want to make them look all rusty and ****ty, what's the best way to do it? Wash the hell out of them? Or do I need to reprime these bad boys to make them look good?

Find out what they were painted with first. Then report back and I'll let you know where to go from there.

Does anybody else find it odd, by the way, that the information age has led to language becoming an oblique and imprecise tool where even the most straightforward phrasing is pored over with chicken entrails and bone tossing to divine the true meaning?

Spray/dust parts of them with Krylon All Purpose Rust/Brown primer then touch up with some rust-colored weathering powders. Should be a good contrast in color and reflectivity.

Or just heavily black, then brown wash all of them.

Depending on what they were painted with, washes might not work at all.

Well, if it is that super glossy stuff, putting a wash on it is going to be a real pain. But I guess you could spray on some Dullcote and then wash away.

How about some pics? Then we can tell each other how wrong we are with even more specificity.

Well, no pics. The guy randomly decided to go out of town this weekend rather than finalize the sale of his 'crons. Ah well.

use the old floor wax dipping method
Give a man fire, and you keep him warm for a night.

.... with a spray on silver youre not going to be able to wash it right... I did this with an ork trukk and it took forever to save. What I would do is hit it with a dull clear coat, then use a mixture of skorched brown (i know its not named that anymore) and tin bits (again with the names!) and lots of water and wash the entire model. go back and dry brush the **** out of them....

Or just wait till I'm done with the ork bikes...
