    New tournament comp option

I just read an article about an interesting comp system the Australians are using.

It uses a credit system that allows you to still take powerful units but limits stacking too many together. Each player starts with 20 credits and using their documents adds up how many credits their units will cost them then subtracts that many credits from their total. The balance is then worth battle points for determining tournament winners. I think that it looks complex but then we play 40k so that shouldn't stop us.

Let me know what you think.

this type of comp has been discussed at length before, and i think was briefly used at dragons lair during the tenure of Brandon the Sullyman, blessed be all his sons. It did not take. feel free to experiment with your events tho

It was about two years ago, there are probably long threads on it somewhere here if you search. One of the main problems I think it had was not being able to properly account for synergy effects.

That's pretty much it. There is too much inter-connectivity in the books to properly comp using a points system.

I remember the massive comp points of some things in that comp system like the Buffmander lol. That was actually pretty funny. Dumb but funny.

It was all but a "yeah we are just banning this guy".

If you want a simple system that fixes the game it is as follows.

Single CAD. No formations. no LOW. ITC Invisibility.

Congratulations you just fixed 95% of the game.
I Noodlers, solemnly swear not to buy any new or used models until I have completed the following

Painted my Chaos Space Marines, Dark Angels, and Imperial Guard to a tournament standard

Don't let the cynics get you down. Give it a try and draw your own conclusions. I'm sure it has advanced and been refined in the last year or two.

The event I am running at Wonkos isn't a tournament so there is no overall winner you just progress your army through the story and gain new wargear.

I thought it was an interesting idea to give a handicap to the list depending on the strength rather than just ban certain units.

Personally I feel the ITC is bias against certain armies and changes too many rules. So I like seeing options out there.

i think you have done enough by eliminating the tournament setting. in a narrative game noone should be upset about seeing toys on the table. you have the power in a narrative event to stack the deck if you think things are getting unfair too.

if that doesnt work matt is right, just start turning back the edition clock.

you could also play with smaller points, i believe you are already doing this in 1 of the sessions.

i would not use any sort of bookeeping, though.

also, since you are the dungeon master so to speak you can comp things yourself, you don't need a system.

and also i am for sure going to be there on the 13th. that in itself will being members of my fan club who are also narrative players as well as provide a general sense of calm and well being in the room. in addition, prostitutes are more likely to attend as well, as it is the day after payday for me.
