I wouldn't call Adepticon the new 'Ard Boyz, since at least at Adepticon the staff knows the rules, the missions are reasonable, and armies are supposed to be painted. I am a little concerned that there is a certain level of TFG interest in Adepticon (I got called to tables to deal with people who were arguing with judges more than once); I'm not sure that is avoidable with a win/loss format, as the format is generally viewed as the only competitive one by TFGs (another reason to stick to battle points in my book).

That said, I think W/L in and of itself is a perfectly acceptable system, as long as the missions are well designed and the staff is impartial and fair. Just like battle point systems. I couldn't be happier that a segment of self-proclaimed competitive players only want to play in win/loss events; if your math skills are so bad that you can't figure out how the scoring systems work AND you think you only belong at the world's most competitive events, I'm happier letting you play at someone else's event.
