I'm just gunna stick with my 6" movement melee army. (Karandras+Scorpions+avatar. Stalking death ah yessss! I really wish I had more scorpions for this)

and i did have the stones that day to tell nick i thought pod skitarii was lame. and i just repeated it here cause i was reading about people doing it all over the net and it irritated me. i never said we had a bad game. it was was it was, i lost, maybe with a little more luck i could have done better but it was gonna be tough from the getgo.

Mike, my comment wasn't directed at you, just to clarify. And sorry that yours is the top post, i had moved several posts over from the other topic where these started to keep that one on point, but there's no way to break the chronology.
I get where you're coming from, but i don't agree that it is necessarily so clear a distinction. I probably would have agreed a year ago, but from various conversations, have revised my opinion.
Regardless of where people fall regarding their sensibility on the issue tho, i don't see any way to specifically incorporate any guidelines into the campaign.
So you've read the books where Inquisitors, other humans, and even a Navigator have deployed in drop pods and you still had a fluff problem with it?

I agree with Mike, it is pretty lame. In a campaign setting anyways. People just need to realize this is supposed to be fun for both parties and not being the nastiest thing you can just because you can. All of my noise marine squads don't have 2 blastmasters in them. You know why?! Because I didn't need to to have fun!

I think this is the solution. If someone brings a list that just isn't fun to play against, then just walk away. Eventually, the hyper-competitive types will be playing against themselves and the casual types will be playing against themselves. Erin is right, there is no way to create a system that enforce a casual/narrative campaign. The players will just have to do it.
i know its not a bright line. there's plenty of gray area. like i was saying im not that hard to convince if the army has a consistent theme and story and is modelled as such. personally i feel the same way about tournament armies, but that's my thing i guess
