Is there a WM/H Journeyman/slow grow league starting up anywhere?

I'm new to the area (about three weeks!) and thinking of starting up some Skorne, and I wondered if anyone was planning, running, or considering a Journeyman or slow-grow league in the Austin area. We're living in Pflugerville, but I could reasonably drive anywhere in the area.

Also, my wife and I are generally a little slow to meet new folks in a new town, but if anyone's up to play against a couple of fairly experienced (but ruthlessly casual) players, please give me a shout!

No league like that in the near future, but Wednesdays are the normal WarmaHordes nights at Dragons Lair in Austin. Its about a 20 min drive from Pville depending on where about you live. We dont shun new people, this group is very welcoming of new players. Most of us can play any point level with multiple factions. So swing buy and introduce yourself and have a game! We will be there tonight.

How do you guys handle lining up games here? My wife and I have played for a while, but our group was very casual. Should I bring a random list at a random point value, or do you guys like to line up challenges ahead of time? Is there a preferred point value on Wednesday nights? And do you need to reserve a table ahead of time?

So many questions! Thanks for your advice!

Tenth Planet Games is starting one soon (tm). They are in Cedar Park, so if you are in Pflug, it's about the same distance to DL.

Our group is pretty casual as well. But we are trying to get faster and more competitive. Most of us have a bag with all our models in it so we can play any point level at any time. No challenges that I know of, would be fun though. We see people standing around looking lost and we ask them if they want a game, if they accept then we find a point level to play at, pull out a list and throw dice. Most people play at the 50 point level, but like I said most of s play multipla factions so we can play from 15 points all the way up to 100 points +. As far as tables go, we have the majority of tables which is 7 full length tables playing WarmaHordes each Wed night starting at about 5 and going till the store closes.

    How-to get a game at Dragon's Lair/Tenth Planet.
1.Show up on game day. (i believe this is Wednesday for both stores, I've done Saturday at 10thP with good successs.
2.Bring whatever models you have/want to play
    3. ???
    4. Profit

We have a large enough player base to satisfy the heavy-competitive or ultra-casual. I'll always ask someone I don't know if they want a 'competitive' game or a 'shiggles' game. (you want shiggles)
There will be games available from Battlebox (11-ish points) up to 50.
The only challenges I know of are that I always try to get a game in with Cody and Chris if I can, as I have yet to beat 'em.
Show up tonight. I need some Cryx on Cryx action.
The point of the game is having fun. The objective is to win.

Honestly, this group is one of the most friendly/welcoming groups I've ever gamed with. If we don't recognize you (even if you're not holding models), someone will probably ask you if you want a game, or at least ask what faction(s) you're playing.

If you have a specific point level/list/scenario you want to play, it shouldn't be too hard to find a match. Like cowboy said, most of us can play anywhere from battlebox up to 100 points. On the other hand, if you want to get something real specific, or just make sure you have a match when you show up, just make a thread in this forum. If I'm looking for a certain point level or prepping for something specific, I just make a post and can usually find someone to play.

Glad to have another member in our group! And my wife will be really happy to hear that there's another female player coming!

@SpiderBite: Heh, funny you should say that, I'm actually thinking of selling my Cryx! I haven't run them or bought any new models in well over a year, and I need to assuage my Faction ADD guilt for when I buy back into Skorne.

@muffinman: My wife is a beast at this game! In our small casual circle at my friend's gaming shop in Montreal, she was nearly undefeated with her Circle/Gators! We've been in one league, and she placed second to a hell of a Protectorate player.

I'd personally love to get into a Journeyman/slow grow to encourage me to paint my Skorne as I get back into them, but my wife loves big, slow games where she can use all her fun smashy Circle/Gator beasts. We'll definitely get out to DL/TP and check it out, if not tonight, then soon!

That's awesome. My wife is still fairly new to the game, but she's picking it up quickly. Funny enough, I play Skorne and my wife plays Circle.

That's crazy. I'm Cryx/Trolls/Pigs, but like I say I haven't touched my Cryx in a while, and I'm feeling that Skorne itch. I had a fair amount of Skorne before but sold them off, and I can see that a lot of good has happened to Skorne since then!
