When & why was this determination made, and why was it not specifically communicated? It's a bad change - taking something from having too much control value already and giving it more control value? No way - if that is how it is going to be I really want no part of this thing.

Going with that change basically removes all other strategic movement in the hexes. WHy are we even bothering with adjacency then? just say that if you are on a planet or control a port then you are automatically adjacent to everything else? Then we don't even need a map. Why bother. Whatever, y'all have at it.
This was back on Jun 29th here:

Having the spaceport + the shield generator on any planet makes the planet, as written, virtually immune to attack from off-planet forces which could make for an overly easy job to lock up a given planet for a faction I think. With a very slight variation, having a spaceport now allows you to attack not only any other spaceport but any hex adjacent to the spaceport. Thus you could attack the shield generator to free up access to the planet.

    So, for example:

If the Imperials own the space port + shield generator on Balin V, and the Xenos control the space port on Orias, and want to strike Balin V the Xenos would first have to use their spaceport to strike at the shield generator. Once that had been cleared of enemy presence, then they could follow up with an attack on the spaceport next, or just build off of their control of the SG.

The problem was, as written, if for example on Balin either the imperials or chaos quickly won full control, knocking the other off, it could become impossible as previously written for other forces to make planetfall and contest it.

The changes are already made in the rules packet. As it stands right now, I have the initial tile claims of 2 of the 3 factions. As soon as I get the last one in, I will ask Real Genius to update the map, and once that is done we can start issuing challenges.

Dandy, that was the wording i thought it had. It was changed again it seems so now lets you attack anywhere on the planet.

It is irrelevant to me at this point. Too much effort needed to try and organize within the team, and any reaction here meets with an accusal of overreacting. Not worth it for me at this time.

Ok, I split this into it's own thread. Erin, please calm down and I would really hate to see you quit. I'm looking forward to playing you, and always enjoy chatting with you.

That said, I'm more than a little frustrated right now. I started this to have fun, and to try and encourage a more fun style of play than just competitive GT and tournament crap all of the time. It's not just the tremendous number of hours I put into this, but I'm not even a week into my vacation yet, and after dealing with Nick's table-flipping rage quit fall out last weekend I have this now. *sigh*

So, sorry for venting but let me get to the issues here. First off, I went back and checked the challenges, and I'm sorry I realized that i typo'ed a couple of them, but I have been taking out time from my fricking vacation doing this to try and make sure people can get their games in, mistakes happen. The biggest one was:

Ball4eva (Imperial) vs ccrazyman (xenos) for ranov hive city, which should have read:
Ball4eva (Imperial) vs ccrazyman (xenos) for space SE of imperial hive city on ranov

I don't even remember the second one I corrected. That leaves two other "questionable challenges" that I can see. One by us Imperials, and one by the Xenos.

    1. Dandy vs Noodlers for w of manufactorum on orias - This strike was accomplished via our Imperial Space Port, I will come back and touch on this issue in the next post so this doesn't get too long.

    2. erin (Xenos) vs Kaika (chaos) for ranov hive city - This challenge really doesn't make sense to me, but I didn't raise issue with it, because I'm on vacation (can I say that a few more times), and didn't want to hold up people starting their games. Also, strictly as the rules are written, I think it is allowable - but it's an oversight and shouldn't be. Why? Well, to attack another enemy you have to have a direct path to their space. Here you are striking a space that you are adjacent too, yes, but Chaos has no direct path there. I could see a force of Imperials fighting you over it, but not Chaos. But again, rules as written didn't say anything about that, so challenges towards unclaimed spaces needs some rules clean up ... I'll get to it when I can, but not in the middle of my fricking vacation.

So, that brings us to the issue of Space Ports. Initially my rules packet had space ports begin adjacent to any other space port, essentially able to attack any spot surrounding the space port. Yes, someone pointed out my post from June 29. After that post, on Thursday July 2nd, week 1 of the games (or I might be misremembering, it might have been the 9th on the second week), there was a big pow-wow of how to fix and correct some issues, especially the challenges, but other things came up as well.

Several were involved in the discussions, but central to the whole thing was Erin, myself, Carlisle, and Nick. I'm not saying that you said anything Erin, because I can't honestly recall who all said what, but I can tell you that there was alot of complaining about space ports and universally everyone other than me said that they were "useless" in the rules as written and should allow a controlling force to strike onto another planet. You may or may not have agreed with that Erin, but there was certainly no one who disagreed, or at least who vocalized a disagreement.

The change to the space port was written after that meeting. I didn't pull for it, didn't want it. The issue of space ports, as far as I can see, only affected one challenge this turn, and that wasn't a Xenos one.

If people don't like these rules, then contact me, and let's discuss. But hell, I'm pretty sure everyone knows I'm on vacation, can you at least give me 24 hours, or talk to me about something before rage quitting? It makes me wonder if all of my effort is even worth it frankly.

So, that's all I have to say right now. I hope it doesn't come off too harsh, I still love ya Erin, and look forward to hopefully getting our game in, and trying out some Malifaux too. But for now I'm off to enjoy a happy hour and try to forget all of this BS for a bit.

Todd, this is me being calm. But no worries, i am done with this thing, so no reason for me to react to that. It isn't your rules i have issue with mainly, just the way people behave towards one another. I had asked around already this weekend but was waiting for you to get back before finalising my decision. But the diminution of people's reactions, by almost everyone it seems not singling you out, to automatically be dismissed is too much. Don't want to deal with it anymore.

So, whatever brian, if you or anyone else wish to characterize me as out of control, fine. My level of concern has dropped to zero.

Hey I find nowhere in the rules you have to declare potms separately

I was wrong, just shoot your same named weapons at the same time

Those guys at the team tourney bamboozled me
