Who won? Howd it go?
I did and it went well
I did the narrative and it was a blast. The first day consisted of two games and the Imperials got absolutely trounced by the end of the day. The second day was one long game played on two giant tables. Without explaining the background, it was Imperials versus Chaos and the Imperials had to get a character model into base contact with four super demons. We were able to kill enough of the 88 bloodletters bubble wrapping the one on my end of the table and get past five bloodthirsters (plus other stuff) to clear a path to the demon on the last turn. I had a squad of vanguard vets that would have done it, but a couple of heralds of tzeentch on charriots flamed them and I forgot how I should have rolled the saves and let the sergeant died on the top of the last turn. We all thought it was over when it was our turn, but someone pointed out that I still had a five man tac squad in a rhino in range to drive up 6", them get out 6" and possibly make a 6" run to get the sergeant into base contact. I rolled the six for the run, tied the game and it ended there. It was one of those memorable moments when everyone was watching one roll of the die that changed the outcome of the game.
Roll 6's. The tactics are intensifying!!!!!
You didn't before? lol
It isn't WGC without Jim behind a laptop...
The narrative tables were truly awesome. Daniel's run roll was literally watched by 30odd people and everyone screamed (in delight or dismay) at once when it came up a 6. A true hail mary.
Much thanks to the organizers, and all the participants. What a wonderful way to spend a weekend!
Out of 8 games I had 7 great games. But, there is always one turd in the punch bowl and it was only half a turd as the guys partner was really nice.
I remeber when The 40k championship tournament had 7 games in two days. Saw that this year it was only 5 games. What did y'all think about the slower pace?
It seemed like everyone was a lot more laid back with the 5 game format.
I liked the 5 game format... It was nice and relaxing.
5 games were perfect - much nicer.
Agreed - now if we can just get rid of win/loss!
I noticed a low attendance from the Austin locals. Was that true?

It was a big improvement over last year attendance wise.
If the TO notices a lack of drops and is shocked then that should communicate to him a goddamn problem in his format.
There were a few other locals too that aren't regulars at Dl or here, Aaron (FW guy) and that guy who played SW who mostly plays at mages. Mike B was there on Sat doing infinity demos.
I think the lack of drops may have something to do with most of the attendees being from texas. If you fly into LV, then you have a choice on day 2: play in the lower brackets or check out Vegas. If you're from SA, Dallas, Houston, you've probably already seen Austin.
Also, I know at least one guy I played was here from Houston basically because he got a weekend pass. So this was like a mini-vacation from family duty, outcomes were irrelevant to him. I would imagine a few others were in similar situations, or had driven in with a few friends, so they were stuck if some were still playing it out.
W/L still sucks and causes people to drop at tourneys.
Yeah the site seems a little buggy today
Yeah, I think it's more that people are trained that WGC isn't win loss.
Sorry I missed it. New job and all that jazz.
please dont do igc next year. that is all.
you know what the **** i mean. igctgctwgc. dont poke my bear. i was pretty sad to skip this year because their rules were used. plus it gives more validation to other local two-days to use it, also gross.
There's about 99% chance you will see ITC format next year.
Might as well start the twelve step process now.
