Need advice on Forge World model

Hey guys, I got a Forge World Huron in recently to paint him up as my Belial, and I had him soaking in water with dish soap for about a day following some instructions I found online about how the lubricant from the mold makes it so the GW paints don't stay on the model very well.

When I pulled him out this afternoon and dried him, the model was STILL coated in the lubricant. So I've taken an old toothbrush and scrubbed at the model with dish soap on the brush, under running warm water, and there's STILL lubricant all over the model. I've gotten the more smooth parts relatively clean, but I don't know what to do about this. I wanted to have him ready for the tournament tomorrow, and since I'm still a newbie painter, I can't paint after assembling him. Can any of you guys offer me nuggets of wisdom on this?

I just scrubbed my Huron with a tooth brush and dish soap and he was fine once I primed him. You did this and when you run your fingers over the model you can still feel some lube on your fingers?

Maybe try some Simple Green?

You could also try wiping down with alcohol or goo gone and immediately wash again.

Dawn works fine, where you using a dish soap that had hand lotion/softener in it, because that stuff leaves a film behind...don't use it.

I know from experience if it is not coming off - the model basically was mixed wrong. If it is still feeling greasy - call Forge World and they will send you a new one. Another blog was talking about it with a model they got and it was shiney and greasy feeling and it was just a bad model. They sent him an entire new one.

Hell yeah! New model! And while they're at it tell them to toss in something for your time! You have to collect on the pain and suffering! And all that dish soap you used!

Hehe, thanks guys, but I had bought the model off ebay, doubt I could get a replacement from FW. At any rate, I kept at the scrubbing with the brush, using more dish soap, warm water, and a bit of ammonia too after something I read online, and it worked. I've got pictures of the finished product over in the Escalation League threads.
