Sheesh, they might as well have called it the Great Hammering Penis-shaped thing. Phallic much, FW?
Love me some Land Raider Achilles. And yes, penis-theme present here as well.

Is that a thunder fire cannon?
Twin linked multi-melta sponsons, and a thunderfire cannon where the assault cannon normally goes.
EDIT: I don't know what the transport capacity is, though.
Who let Josh see this!?
now he's going to have 4 LR Achilles!!!
The rules are available for download here:

Transport capacity = 6 models
OK, this is just wrong (which, translated to English means, "I now want one"):
Quote:
Ferromantic Invulnerability: The hull of the Achilles has been specially
constructed to resist even the most determined assault and is almost
preternaturally resilient. As a result, the Land Raider Achilles is not
subject to the particular effects of the Lance and Melta special rules
by attacks made against it. In addition it reduces the effects of all rolls
on the damage chart made against it (other than by Destroyer type
weaponry), by -1.
He can play Forgeworld against Paul all day with them, too.
At a capacity of 6, it's basically an enormous razorback on 'roids rather than an actual land raider. Also, here's something amusing:Lol blood angels? Guess these super-tough land raiders weren't designed for orbital insertion...Quote:
A Land Raider Achilles is a also Heavy Support choice in a Codex Space Marines,
Codex Black Templars, Codex Space Wolves or Codex: Dark Angels army.
Too Heavy, would faceplant into the surface of the planet never to return!
That lance rule is BS, I have to say. I mean seriously, they created AV14 realized they needed and trump card, made the Lance , and now there is an exception to that. Seriously, it was good enough with out that exception. At least it only for fun/FW games.
Yea not a fan of the seismic hammer...But what an awesome land raider. The Ironclad looks pretty sweet too.
Hey, I making a new LR variant called the Emperor's Dong. It has hurricane vindicator cannons on the side sponsons and TL vulcan mega bolters for a main gun. It's transport capacity is up to one company of marines, due to the transport cabins made from LR chassis that trail behind it like a train. Its nova-hardened adamant hull reflects all damage from glances back to the firing unit. Transport cabins can be bought as needed and each has weapon sponsons of its own. Remember that Terminators count as 2 models, though.
Wow! There seems to be a lot of hate for Forgeworld rules in here. I would love both to face and have a Land Raider Achilles. I also have a couple of points regarding its durability:
1) It's 300 points. That's almost a superheavy in price, so some survivability is deserved.
2) There's already an AV14 vehicle that's immune to melta and lance. People still manage to kill it. It's even immune to Vanquishers, which this is not. Also, I think it would finally make people start to take an AT weapon that isn't a meltagun or missile launcher again *gasp*.
3) It will be frighteningly hard to kill for Eldar. I suppose that is a design flaw and will muse on it further.
4) I would love to see them on the table. Cool looking, effective Space Marine tank (yes, tank. A transport capacity of six is a joke).
5) Note the lack of assault ramps and a forward debarkation point.
definitely going to use that seismic hammer as a force weapon when I order my Librarian dread....
I agree with Billy. The Achilles is retarded. At least it's 'FW by permission' rules, in which case I can also field a Heirodule or something in the same game.
Paul, I appreciate your support of all things on wheels, but:
1) I would gladly pay 300pts for a tough as balls unit. Oh wait, Swarmlord +3guards = 280+180=460pts. It still dies to shooting, and can't shoot back.
2) So now there's two vehicles that will operate with impunity against my army. Yay.
3) Nids. This tank is a Nid killer. The Thunderfire cannon destroys my army, and this is one that drives around, runs away from my MC's, and laughs at my Zoanthropes. If it only had those flamers on the side sponsons, it would be PERFECT.
4) I too would enjoy seeing one on the tabletop. Once.
5) Noted. It doesn't really take the sting away, though.
All ranting aside, the model does looks frikkin awesome, and I really would like to see one on the table. It's just that cool.Quote:

I'm getting one because I'm allowed to.
