Quality is a big part of it.
There's a huge difference between this: Attachment 1143
And someone spraying a PVC pipe and calling it done.
Quality and support of the store are the two main things. I think in general most folks wont care as long as they are up to the standard of whatever they are suppose to look/act like in terms of game mechanics. The cool thing about Dragon's lair is by and far they are very relaxed about who uses what and where it comes from, in fact I know from personal experience most conversions get the "oooh thats cool" reply from the staff. Not the is that a such and such range?
Well ya dragonslair will be becoming my new warmahordes/40k/dicemaster/magic store as im moving to northside soon
snob here. hope i never have to look at these.
That's the inexplicable 40k attitude that so annoys me. As a fantasy player i can say that alternate companies, and scratch built are often some of the best looking stuff around. The completely different views of the communities on this and comp I just don't understand. I started as a 40k player back in third ed, but the 40k community is on the wrong side of both issues frankly.
just to explain my trollin here:
first off, you can get $35 drop pods without too much problem.
second, my gut assumption as to how cool these custom pods are is fairly negative based on my immediate impression of your writing style.
third, most people that want a cheap counts-as solution usually only want to 'craft' or convert instead of buying the real deal because they are making a boring, purely competitive spam army. which is then so much worse to play against not only because of how it plays, but also because GW's awesome IP aesthetics are suspended
but you know what, my bad. i'll assume yours are amazing looking with decent paint jobs and are part of a cool interesting army. benefit of the doubt. hope to be pleasantly surprised.
They are not amazing by my standards but at the same token they have the same footprint same height and the same span from edge to edge of the diffusers i didnt just go get a pvc cap and paint it :/ i used 2" pvc reducer bushing, 2" coupling, 2" cap, 5mm foamstock and .60 plasticard for the diffusers, and its not for a cheesy spam. Its for a detachment i only field when i dont have enough points. Thats it
That does not sound very good, it's not even a model, it's some pvc pipe
Come on man I just bought a drop pod for $20
Well, if you are seriously talking about using pvc crap, in this case let me side with the naysayers, lol. Sometimes a good counts as is cheaper, sometimes its more expensive, but in no way would i support using crap like that.
